There are many decisions to make when it comes to choosing your implants. Here are a few options you and Dr. Barton will discuss during the consultation.
Saline vs. Silicone
Saline implants add volume with a sterile saline solution (salt water). If they rupture, your body simply absorbs the saline and naturally disposes of it.
Silicone implants use a silicone gel that feels similar to natural breast tissue. However, if rupturing occurs, the gel could leak into your breasts, so we require follow-up appointments to ensure your implants are in good shape.
Shapes
Based on your anatomy and ideal breast appearance, we also discuss options for the shape of your implants. Including:
- Round: a circular and symmetrical implant that gives a fuller look at the top of your breasts.
- Teardrop: an implant that is tapered at the top and fuller at the bottom to mimic a natural breast slope.
- Gummy Bear: Typically a teardrop-shaped implant with a more firm gel than traditional silicone implants. This offers a natural feel with less risk of leakage or rippling.
Texture
We discuss whether you would prefer a smooth or textured implant for your breast augmentation in Plano.
- Smooth: Feels softer and moves naturally within the breast pocket.
- Textured: Has a rough surface that helps implants adhere to tissue and reduces movement and rotation.
