At McGuiness Dermatology & Plastic Surgery, we have multiple nonsurgical methods of hair restoration, including:
PRP (Platelet-rich plasma)
PRP is a growth factor-based treatment for hair loss.
There are three potential sources for growth factors in platelet-rich plasma: synthetic, exogenous, and endogenous.
Synthetic growth factors are applied with an ultrasound device.
Your sessions are once a month. The amount of appointments you have will be determined by the treatment that you experience. During your consultation, your provider will go over your amount of sessions, session length, and how to prepare for them.
Exogenous growth factors are obtained from bone marrow or placenta and include plant-based growth factors along with other types of growth factors.
Endogenous growth factors come from the patient’s own blood. This growth factor is the most well-known as PRP and it is the one that we use for this treatment. It is injected into the skin of the scalp where you’d like to target hair loss. The growth factors within the plasma work to produce thicker and healthier hair.
Keralase
Our KeraLase treatment promotes new hair growth through our Ultra Laser and the KeraFactor technology. We begin the treatment by preparing the scalp by creating tiny micro-channels in the target areas. These micro-channels make it easier to absorb the growth factors needed to encourage new hair growth. From there, your provider will apply the serum containing the growth factors needed directly into the micro-channels. As they seep into the scalp they begin to promote hair growth to achieve your ideal appearance.
At the time of your appointment, a member of our team will go over the different methods and how they work. During this discussion, you should try to be detailed and honest about your medical history to help us determine which one is best for you.
