Replenish Lost Facial Volume
Facial aging involves more than skin laxity. Fat compartments can shrink or shift over time, causing hollowed cheeks, sunken temples, deeper folds, or less support beneath the eyes.
Dr. Sheen offers facial fat grafting for Plano patients who want to restore volume using their own tissue. He evaluates the face as a whole and places fat where it can support proportion, structure, and continuity.
Who May Benefit From Fat Grafting?
You may benefit from this procedure if aging, genetics, or weight loss has reduced facial fullness. It may also help improve contour irregularities or restore volume around the cheeks, temples, lips, and lower eyelids.
Ideal candidates should be healthy enough for surgery and have a suitable donor area, such as the abdomen or thighs. Patients should also maintain a stable weight. Fat grafting may not suit patients who have too little body fat for collection or medical conditions that increase surgical risks.
Dr. Sheen reviews your health, medications, previous procedures, and expectations before recommending treatment.
How the Procedure Works
Fat grafting involves 3 main stages: harvesting, processing, and placement. Dr. Sheen first removes a limited amount of fat from a donor area using liposuction.
The collected fat is then processed to separate healthy fat cells from fluid and other material. Then, Dr. Sheen carefully injects small amounts of fat into selected facial areas. Placing the fat in thin layers helps the cells establish a blood supply within the surrounding tissue.
Not every transferred fat cell survives. Because absorption varies between patients, Dr. Sheen may place slightly more volume than the final result requires.
Why Dr. Sheen Offers Fat Grafting
Fat grafting allows Dr. Sheen to restore volume without relying on a synthetic implant or manufactured filler. Your own fat can integrate with nearby facial tissue as well.
Furthermore, this procedure addresses several areas during one surgical plan. Dr. Sheen can perform it alone or combine it with a deep plane facelift, blepharoplasty, or brow lift when volume loss contributes to facial aging.
