Best Facelift in Plano

The Truth Behind Finding the Best Facelift for You

There are many different types of facelifts:

And the question we hear a lot at McGuiness Dermatology & Plastic Surgery is: Which is the best facelift?

In Plano, our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Natalie Barton, tells you the truth: There isn’t a one-size-fits-all “best facelift.”

Why? Because they all require different techniques that help you reverse the clock on facial aging.

So, the truth is, it’s not about which facelift is superior, it’s about finding the best one for you. To achieve facial balancing, we can discuss your options and determine the treatment that will yield the best results.

What Is a Facelift?

A facelift addresses and reverses signs of aging, like thinning skin, wrinkles, jowls, fat redistribution, and loose or excess skin. A facelift starts with administering anesthesia for your comfort. The surgical process involves taking a skin flap from both sides of the face and drawing it back to the ears. Then, the excess skin and tissue are removed to bring back your original, youthful contours.

Standard Facelift

A standard facelift addresses moderate-to-advanced aging around the midface and neck. In addition to tightening your skin, this sophisticated technique also targets the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) to reposition deeper tissues.

The standard facelift involves making incisions behind the hairline, near the temples, or around the front of the ear. Fortunately, these incisions are easy to conceal, so they won’t be too noticeable after your surgery.

Mini Facelift

A mini facelift is the best facelift in Plano for patients who exhibit early signs of aging. It involves lifting and tightening deep structural tissues around the cheeks to correct mild jowling.

The mini facelift requires incisions made in the same areas as the standard, though they are shorter and easier to conceal.

Deep Plane Facelift

The deep plane facelift addresses deeper tissues and structures of the face—including fat pads, muscles, and structural tissue—without pulling the skin too tightly. The results from this treatment are often the most natural-looking and longest-lasting results of all techniques.

However, don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s the best facelift in Plano for you. Every patient is different and has varying needs when it comes to a facelift.

Multi-Vector Facelift

The multi-vector facelift addresses several areas of concern using different lifting techniques. Instead of lifting and repositioning skin in one direction, like other techniques, it uses multiple directions to counter volume loss.

Dr. Barton approaches this treatment with a keen eye and finesse, tailoring it specifically to your facial anatomy.

Emface Facial Contouring: A Nonsurgical Facelift

Maybe you don’t even need surgery after all.

At McGuiness, we want to offer you every possibility to reverse the clock. The Emface facial contouring device doesn’t require an incision or even the use of needles to restore your facial contours. Instead, this noninvasive treatment uses two technologies: radiofrequency (RF) and high-intensity facial electrical stimulation (HIFES).

The RF energy heats your skin to boost collagen production—a structural protein that keeps your skin strong and firm. As you age, your body’s collagen production declines, leaving you susceptible to fine lines and wrinkles. Emface is the best facelift in Plano for nonsurgically improving skin health from the inside out.

At the same time, HIFES energy induces up to 20,000 muscle contractions, giving you a powerful facial workout. With improved muscle tone, your skin naturally lifts to a more youthful position on your face. You can use Emface as a nonsurgical—and far less dramatic—alternative to a facelift, or as a complementary treatment to prolong your results.

Here’s how to get started.

Book a Consultation

In order to determine the best facelift for you, Dr. Barton needs to meet you. Your journey to reverse the hands of time starts with a conversation where Dr. Barton assesses your facial structure, listens to your concerns, and reviews your medical history.

After the review, she gives you before & after photos of previous facelifts that she’s done to help set realistic expectations for your surgery. Next, you collaborate and decide which techniques will be the best facelift in Plano for you.

Surgery Day

On the day of your surgery, Dr. Barton administers either IV sedation or general anesthesia—whichever you are more comfortable with.

A facelift generally takes 2.5 hours from start to finish. Dr. Barton makes precise incisions and repositions your skin, underlying tissue, and fat pads to a more youthful position using an artistic eye and finesse. This facelift is entirely personalized to your facial anatomy with the intention of enhancing your natural beauty—not overpowering or hiding it.

Recovery

Dr. Barton gives you clear, detailed instructions for how to recover from your facelift. These include keeping your head elevated, using a cold compress to reduce swelling, and taking prescribed medications to manage pain and reduce the risk of infection.

Use this time to relax—avoid strenuous activity and don’t wear makeup or use skincare products until cleared by Dr. Barton. You can expect recovery from a facelift to last 1 to 2 weeks.

Results

Results appear gradually as your body heals and swelling and bruising subsides. You should feel confident enough to reveal the results of the best facelift in Plano within 10 to 14 days after your surgery.
