Precise Eyelid Rejuvenation
The upper eyelids can begin to feel heavy as skin loses its elasticity and settles over the natural crease. Genetics can also cause hooding or fullness earlier in life. When excess skin becomes pronounced, it can affect appearance, makeup application, or peripheral vision.
Patients considering scheduling their upper blepharoplasty in Plano should meet with Dr. Sheen for an evaluation of their eyelids. To learn more about candidacy, how the procedure works, and what to expect from recovery and results, read more here.
Who May Benefit?
Upper blepharoplasty is appropriate if loose skin obscures your eyelid crease, creates a heavy sensation, or makes your eyes appear more tired than you feel. Candidates should be healthy enough for elective surgery, avoid nicotine, and have realistic expectations.
Tell Dr. Sheen about dry eyes, glaucoma, thyroid conditions, diabetes, previous eye procedures, contact lens use, and medications that may affect healing or bleeding.
How the Procedure Works
Before performing your upper blepharoplasty in Plano, Dr. Sheen marks the natural eyelid crease and carefully measures how much skin can be removed. He then places the incision within that crease, helping the resulting scar remain less noticeable once it’s healed.
Depending on your anatomy, he may remove a small amount of protruding fat or reposition tissue to create a smoother appearance. The procedure is intentionally conservative. Removing too much skin or fat can create difficulty closing the eyes, dryness, or a hollow look.
Recovery and Results
Bruising, swelling, tightness, mild irritation, temporary dryness, and light sensitivity may occur during early healing. Many patients return to desk work and social activities within one to two weeks.
Follow Dr. Sheen’s instructions for cold compresses, ointments, sleeping with your head elevated, limiting activity, and protecting incisions from sun exposure. Results continue refining over several weeks and are generally long-lasting, although the face continues to age naturally.
